Anticipating the Joys and Sorrows

Next week we will finally be into October and ready to begin this adoption process!!! I am so excited!

But I’m also not naive to think we will be the lucky one to have a perfect and smooth adoption. And I’m not fooled into thinking we will be the one to get the perfect child with no issues adjusting whatsoever.

I have been incredibly blessed to have friends that have walked this adoption road before us. I have witnessed their tears of joy and sorrow. I have seen some come through the struggle of too much waiting and jumping through hoops. And the heart break of parents who’s kids cannot connect with them. I see them in the daily struggle.

But I also see them in the small victories won every day.

I’m honored and privileged to walk with them through it all. To hold their hands up in prayer when they are too weak. To laugh and cry, to celebrate and mourn alongside my brothers and sisters.

That’s what the body of Christ is for. & I am praying that there will be an army around us that will do the same when the time comes.

Today I’m praying specifically for 2 families that are in the trenches of their adoption story. Even though you may not know them, I hope you can pray with me for them. To protect their privacy I will call them the W Family and the A Family. If you think about them, will you just say a prayer for them and the precious child they are trying to love and care for?

An update on where we’re at

In a couple weeks we will officially begin our adoption process by turning in our agency adoption application. That will be an exciting day! That will mark the beginning of a long journey to our little girl. From there we will have another application to fill out and a home study to prepare for. Those are apparently the first big hurdles in the process.

But for right now we are just trying to tuck as much money away as possible, hopefully getting ahead of the game a little bit. We are praying a lot and trying to prepare ourselves for whatever comes our way.

So, nothing much to report, but the anticipation is killing me!

Be a piece of the puzzle

FullSizeRender (2)We cannot move forward in this adoption process without the prayers and support of our friends and family. We need you at every step in the process.

It’s kind of like a puzzle. There are many FullSizeRenderpieces that have to fit together to make this beautiful picture. And the more hands we have the easier it will be.
So we have a fun ways you can help… A tangible way you can be part of the puzzle

FullSizeRender (3)Here’s how it works… For $5 per piece, you can sponsor a piece of this very cute adoption puzzle. We will write your name on the back of your piece(s) and add it to the puzzle. Once all of the pieces have sponsors, we’ll glue them together and frame it. We want this little girl to be able to see the people who loved and prayed for her before she was even here.

There are 252 pieces that need sponsors! Want a piece… or 5? Contact us (link on the right side of this page) to get our address and send money via mail or click the “donate” button (also on the left) to pay via PayPal.

To see more ways you can help check out the “How you can help” page. We can’t thank you enough!

The Most Important Thing

Prayer! I cannot underestimate its importance. I have to constantly remind myself that this is absolutely crucial for my every day life as well as this adoption process.

So often when the Apostle Paul talked about prayer he also talked about being joyful and thankful.

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. -Phillipians 4:4-7

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -I Thessalonians 5:16-18

Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ -Colossians 4:2-3

I want my prayers to be like this. I know there will be countless trials and frustrations in the coming months and years but in the midst of it, by God’s grace, I want to approach God with joy and thanksgiving because he has done GREAT things! In Christ, we win! And no trial, delay, heartache or frustration can change that.

So, when the pressure seems to be getting to me. Will you point me back to the cross of Christ? Will you remind me to rejoice? … And will you pray?

  • Pray for peace in the process
  • Pray for our little girl. That she would be safe and healthy, and that she would know the love of Jesus and her forever family.
  • Pray we will have the funds we need as we need them.
  • Pray the process would be smooth and all the details would fall into place.
  • Pray for our hearts as we prepare for a beautiful new member of our family.

As the process begins we will share more specific prayer needs as they arise. We will post some of those here. But let me know if you’d like us to add you to an email list with additional requests and updates.
